Introduction
Licorice has been traditionally used in Oriental medicine and in countries like Korea and Japan. Hishiphagen-C is a prescription drug developed in Japan 60 years ago, containing glycyrrhizin extracted from licorice, glycine, and cysteine as its main ingredients. In addition to treating hepatitis, it has been recognized for its efficacy in detoxification and chronic dermatitis. Biochemically, glycyrrhizin has antioxidant effects and can enhance the immune system.
